November 29 Meeting

The girls had a big night this week. I'm so proud of all our Daisies for remembering to bring their Daisy bags. We introduced the job chart today, and the girls were excited about their responsibilities. They are on their way to earning their orange petal.

We began our Between the Earth and Sky journey. The girls may go ahead and add the patch to their tunics. In celebration of the journey, we sang a song in different languages and looked at different places around the world. We also discussed solving conflicts, and brainstormed different ways to solve a problem. As we work on the Blue bucket part of the journey, we will explore our feelings.

This week the girls worked on learning the Girl Scout promise. We made a name tag, and added stickers as we completed different g
am
es and activities to help the girls learn the promise. We made a card to take home to help learn the words and also it shows how they are supposed to hold their hand. The girls played charades, acting out situations tha
t demonstrated the different parts of the promise to help them understand the meaning behind the words. They put together puzzles and played a bean bag toss game as the said the different parts of the promise.

We will be building Gingerbread (graham cracker) Houses for our next meeting as we support Habitat for Humanity. Each girl needs to bring a small bag of candy and can bring an extra donation to the organization. Please see the parent letter in your child’s bag for more information.

The Caroling Date has been changed to December 15th at 6:15.

Girl Scout Promise

On my honor,I will try:
To serve God & my country,
To help other people at all times
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

For our first meeting on Nov. 15 we worked on our Orange petal - Responsible for what I say and do

Take a look at what we did:

Sing: Amazing Daisies and Girl Scout Daisy

Play name game: Each girl says her name using alliteration (Laughing Lauren) After each name the group chants all the names.

Introduce the Girl Scout Promise with our troop banner: The girls decorated the banner with daisy flowers.

We made a Law poster together, using construction paper petals, to create the poster. The girls help glue them to the poster and we discussed how the Promise is the center part of the flower.

Each week we will add pictures from our troop meeting for each of the petals.

We then traced one of the girl’s bodies on butcher paper and cut it out. we named the person "Little blue." We talked about mean things people can say and do. Each time the girls thought of something we crinkled up part of Little Blue. After it was completely crumpled we tried to smooth it out. A Girl Scout’s job is to be responsible and not say things that might hurt someone on the inside.

We discussed the laws and used them to create Troop rules.

  1. Attentive listening
  2. No put downs
  3. Appreciations
  4. Right to Pass
  5. Mutual Respect

Then, we used peel and stick felt daisy to decorate a pre-strung tag for the 8” vinyl tote. Totes will help your Daisies be responsible and bring their supplies to every meeting. Look for notes home in the bag. Each girl has a chart with all the petals. We will color them in as we earn them.

Sing: It’s a little bit of heaven

We removed our banner.
