Friendly and helpful - yellow

The girls finally earned their orange petals today, after remembering their bags for two meetings in a row. Each girl was also very excited to recite the promise and earn the blue center patch. I'm so proud of all our Daisies.
Have a good trip - Bon Voyage (French and Turkey)
We continued our journey today and met several of the characters in the story. The girls got to see the blue flower powered car with its bucket seats. Ask your Daisy what the car was made out of. Some of the items in the car we noticed on our nature walk as we looked for the colors all around us in nature.
We played a "what would you do" game, where the girls were given different options and had to chose what they would do, what would be most helpful. As we continued to work on our yellow petal each girl glued together six helping hand cards. Over the next several weeks, until our next meeting, the girls are supposed to do six helpful things. They get to give away their cards as they perform a helpful deed.
Gingerbread for Humanity
Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arns7HpdLf0&feature=channel and see the video that the girls watched telling them about Habitat for Humanity. After talking about what the program does, and how that was a helpful and friendly thing, we constructed our own graham cracker houses. We raised $35 for Habitat for Humanity. I dropped off the money and they were very excited to have us participate in the program
We finished off the night with the Investiture for our three new Daisies: Conner, Lauren, and Maile.
We will have a Cookie meeting on January 3 at 6:30.

November 29 Meeting

We began our Between the Earth and Sky journey. The girls may go ahead and add the patch to their tunics. In celebration of the journey, we sang a song in different languages and looked at different places around the world. We also discussed solving conflicts, and brainstormed different ways to solve a problem. As we work on the Blue bucket part of the journey, we will explore our feelings.
This week the girls worked on learning the Girl Scout promise. We made a name tag, and added stickers as we completed different gWe will be building Gingerbread (graham cracker) Houses for our next meeting as we support Habitat for Humanity. Each girl needs to bring a small bag of candy and can bring an extra donation to the organization. Please see the parent letter in your child’s bag for more information.
The Caroling Date has been changed to December 15th at 6:15.

Girl Scout Promise

For our first meeting on Nov. 15 we worked on our Orange petal - Responsible for what I say and do
Take a look at what we did:
Sing: Amazing Daisies and Girl Scout Daisy
Play name game: Each girl says her name using alliteration (Laughing Lauren) After each name the group chants all the names.
Introduce the Girl Scout Promise with our troop banner: The girls decorated the banner with daisy flowers.
We made a Law poster together, using construction paper petals, to create the poster. The girls help glue them to the poster and we discussed how the Promise is the center part of the flower.
Each week we will add pictures from our troop meeting for each of the petals.
We then traced one of the girl’s bodies on butcher paper and cut it out. we named the person "Little blue." We talked about mean things people can say and do. Each time the girls thought of something we crinkled up part of Little Blue. After it was completely crumpled we tried to smooth it out. A Girl Scout’s job is to be responsible and not say things that might hurt someone on the inside.
We discussed the laws and used them to create Troop rules.
- Attentive listening
- No put downs
- Appreciations
- Right to Pass
- Mutual Respect
Then, we used peel and stick felt daisy to decorate a pre-strung tag for the 8” vinyl tote. Totes will help your Daisies be responsible and bring their supplies to every meeting. Look for notes home in the bag. Each girl has a chart with all the petals. We will color them in as we earn them.
Sing: It’s a little bit of heaven
We removed our banner.
